Proposal for a Day Shelter in Port Townsend,
There is currently a need for a warm shelter for the homeless community during the day. This need is more pronounced with the closing of the Boiler Room.
Spearheaded by Jefferson Interfaith Action Coalition*, the goal is to provide shelter and supportive space during the cold winter months. Local Communities of faith along with anyone called to support the effort is invited to participate.
If you’d like to give to this effort, click the button below, give to the “Mission and Ministry of FPCPT” and enter “Warming Center” in the NOTES area. 100% of your generous donation will go to the Warming Center.
This is intended as a stop-gap, temporary response to meet an urgent and unmet need in the community for this winter.
Supportive services could be offered during those hours as well.
Location: 1433 Sims Way, Port Townsend
Staffing: 1 paid staff member and 1 volunteer monitor
Tentative Dates: February 2019-April 2019
* Jefferson Interfaith Action Coalition seeks to mobilize people of any spiritual walk to action. Formed in response to issues of immigration, a gathering of individuals from different faith walks joined together to nurture positive awareness and change. Drawing on the resources of our faith traditions, learning from each other, inspired by and in partnership with the broader community, we work to support justice, peace, and human worth.
